Question 1999 Cobra tail lights

OK, so I bought a pair of spare tail lights from a friend. One has what appears to be black stuff in the housing that looks like it might have been wet at one time. It's very stubborn and won't come out being rinsed. Is there any way to get it off short of separating the lense from the housing and redoing the chrome? If not, how do I separate the lense from the housing, they don't go together like the older 87-93 tail lights. I had a cracked on and put it in the oven and the lense warped before the glue ever came close to releasing. Any ideas?

Try making a hook with a wire coat hanger and wrap some gauze around it, not a lot, just a big q-tip type thing, that should be able to fit in through the bulb hole and get it out, its worked for me many times.

I got it figured out. Ford actually superglues them together. With alot of patience and a wide chisel(for leverage) I was able to slowly pry the lense loose from the housing. One of the tail lights chrome was so degraded that parts of it were the same black color as the back of the housing.
