Y Do 4.6L Have No Low End Torque?

isthere a way to get it back? y 5.0L have it and 4.6L dont. i want it back! haha

it's due to the small bore and short stroke but all that can be overcome by changing a few things, like camshafts, cam timing, headers, intake mainfold and some other mods...

Agree with randy, and also these cars arent geared all that great from the factory. Change them out for some shorter gears and that will help bring out some lower end torque.

Or you could go the easy route and slap a positive displacement blower on it.

Yeah, the 4.6 likes RPM... Gears and +disp. blower will make your spine break!

The DOHC like rpms. the 5.0 and SOHC 4.6 are about the same on rpms. the pushrods were just known more being torquey than the modulars. Like mentioned, the gears would be great. Do a 5.4 conversion and talk about having torque. My 97 has 366lbs to the rear with just bolt ons and stage 2 heads with a 03 5.4. The 3.73 gears made passing people in 5th easy to do.
