Default Red spark plugs?

1999 mustang gt 4.6 sohc
I recently changed my spark plugs to NGK tr55ix 7164. I was comparing my two plug gappers and noticed they were different by .05. So what i thought was .054 was really .049. So i pulled the plugs to regap them and noticed they were a fiery red color. I only had them in for a week before regapping them to .054. My question is would the smaller gap cause this red color or do i need to switch to a different type of plug, or is there a more serious problem going on. I also changed from 5w-30 oil to semi synthetic 5w -20oil could this be the cause?

the Red color is prob due to additive package added to the brand of fuel your using, re-gap the plug and go....
