Default heads, and cam questing????

So ive been debating on what to do to my car...and im pretty sure im going with cams and heads but i was wondering if any of you guys could give me a price...

How much would it cost to get just cam's installed and how much Rwhp will they provide.

and

How much to have my heads port and polished and how much rwhp will that provide.

I think im gonna just do cams first because im pretty sure i wont be able to afford both at the same time..and i want that old school muscle car sound

if your goin for that muscle sound, then you cant go wrong with a set of 4v heads. i got a set with cams for 200 bucks, and im about to buy an intake for 50. i found the timing chains and tensioners at a swap meet. when upgrading your car, it doesnt hurt to look for the best parts you can find, then try to get a good deal on them. some times you can take my aproach to car mods and get some beastly parts for alot less than they are worth.

I'd just send your heads off to Fox Lake or wait for the new Trick Flow Heads and stay 2V. The 4V swap can be pretty involved and complicated, which all adds up to expensive.

comp cams usual cost around 550.00 for a set. springs and retainers are about 250. I would think you would get around 30 to 40 hp. complete heads without cams from patriot performance are 1300.00. your not gonna get hardly any power from ported heads cause your not pushing a ton of air through them. so what im saying is if your not gonna supercharge or turbo it the heads are not worth changing. with a supercharger heads give about 40 hp

Yeah those LS1's respond extremely well to heads/cam. I have a buddy with an 01 WS6 with that making a little over 400rwhp. With heads and cam usually on a stang you will be maybe 320rwhp. But i also reccomend the TRickflow heads over anything. They are completely reassembled and if they do come out with a set of cams to go along...oh man thats got me excited, might have to take my car back to the shop lol. I would have figured those heads would be a little more than 2k, but hey thats great. It will be worth the wait and they will make a lot more power than foxlake or patriot ported heads.
