Default Need Help..Is the Typhoon Intake worth it?

Hey guys, as some of you may know I mentioned that my intake manifold O Rings were spitting out antifreeze so I planned on doing an Intake Manifold in the summer (I stopped the leak with Stop Leak lol)

So I was looking at the Typhoon Intake from Professional Products, its $550 for the Satin trim. It says it makes about 25 more HP at like 6,500 which obviously GT's dont hit that. But on an article I read, someone had a Roush with Cams and got like +5hp at 5200 and + 9hp at 5,400 thats where I shift at the strip. So in your opinion is it worth $550 for the Typhoon Intake? Remember that was with cams aswell so maybe Id see like +6hp at 5,400. It also loses like 1 or 2 horses between 4,800 and 5,000. Does anyone else make a better Intake for the 2V's? Thanks for the help guys.

Unless you plan on shooting a big nitrous shot or boosting more than 12psi, no, it's not worth the money. You can make more power with a PI replacement and upgrade your cams.

I have it installed on my turbo Saleen but I was not able to see the performance gain because I did a-lot of other things at the same time (turbo). For the money it def. makes people turn their heads and take a look. Me personally I think it really turns around the look of the engine bay.

Wow people were losing power? Thanks a lot for that review..heres the link

Ford Mustang GT Aluminum Intake Manifold For 4.6 Liter Two-Valve - 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Magazine

Yea it says "Dyno Proven" Probally a FI car to add 25 more HP at 6,500 rpm...Well thats useless for the 2V's because I would never spin my car up that high lol. Maybe Ill just save up for a Bullitt Intake or something because if Im going to lose HP then screw that lol

yeah man that's gonna be a ton of saving for that bullitt intake, haha. if you type out the name of the manifold on google it pulls up a ton of articles about how bad the thing is. go figure. but HPS has a manifold but they won't put any numbers and i can't find any people who have used it heres the link.

Home

on their home page though it says 15hp NA and 25hp on boost. for about $650. i think that's still out there.

I guess the runners on the intake are probably smalle than the ford. I replace my 2000 gt with a dorman intake (usually sells at checkers auto) and I did notice the holes on the intakes were a little smaller I guess i lost 10 to 20 hp on the test. next week replace it with a the updated ford intake and was back like it used to be.

I have the intake for price to power it's not worth a fu$& I think trick flow or edlebrooke just made a new one that's supposed to flow like double the amount of air. Besides that unless ur doing sum major mods I wouldn't worry about the intake
