Default crazy exhaust noise

I cant seem to find many people on another forum that have ran into this problem and figured out exactly what was causing it so I was wondering if some of you around here might have some experience with it.

Ive running a factory mid pipe and factory catback with flowmaster 40's welded in for the last few months now. No issues at all. The other day I put in a pypes o/r x pipe and at idle it has an AWFUL pinging/ticking/metallic knocking noise that is matched with the cam lope. It seems like each time the cam lopes the exhaust makes this noise. It sounds like an old school muscle car on steriods pretty much.

It appears that no videos on youtube sound like this and ive just seen mixed stuff between the problem being the x or the mufflers. So as mentioned I was wondering if you guys have an idea as to which one is causing this. I can easily chop the x off of the downpipes, chop the h off of the factory mid pipe and weld the h in place of the x if the X is causing the problem. On the other hand I dont care to spend $100+ on new mufflers and have that not be the problem, or do the work of chopping and welding up two perfectly good midpipes if thats not the problem either.

Before anyone mentions it, it is not an exhaust leak. There are no leaks at the manifolds, a new gaskset was used on the pass side, it was installed the correct direction. I welded the X to the downpipes and have checked the welds very throughly for leaks, and there is no leaks where the x and cat back come together.

Its just the factory 2.25" catback with some flowmaster 40's with 2.25 inlet/outlet welded in. Given that it is the pypes x pipe im guessing its the X its self causing the issue?
