Hello, I was talking to a guy from years ago the other day ,he had just got a 2009 Roush Mustang. It was a GT when new but they don't call it that anymore,anyway it had a 435hp supercharged 429. he said that they used the 4.6 engine and added to it ,is this correct? And does the supercharger add over 100 hp, I'm not sure it's worth the $5000.oo+ but it's worth thinking about. anyone?

idk about the supercharger but you can take a smaller block and bore it out. when you bore it out you get bigger pistons and what not which ups the displacement of the engine while keeping that same block size. thats why you sometimes hear people running around with 428 or 429 small blocks instead of big blocks, its because they took a smaller block and bored it out.

429 from a 4.6 is streaching it


hone out .30 or .60 over

stroke it out with shorter rods deeper crank

open the cams up and the flow

4.6 is like 280 CI ish around there..

going from 280 CID to 429 out of one block, i think is impossible

my TA went from 400CI - 470 CIand that was about max

429 must be something else...

the HP sounds in the realm of possibility

considering its SC


but not the CID

if it was 429 he would have more hp with the SC

my 470 is around 600 crank HP.

429 should be atleast 400HP if done up with 5K worth, i assume thts how much he put in since u ask about that number?

beisdes a 429 is like 7.0L

thats like adding 4 cyls

05 horse, this car came from Roush ,it had a plate in the engine compartment stating that it had 435 hp. The $5000.00 I mentioned is the cost from Shelby for one (supercharger)for my car. Thanks for your info

05 horse, on the plate riveted to the insides of the engine compartment it said 435 hp 429 ,which I assumed ment cubic inches. also on the side of the hoodscoop it said "charged 429" this car came from Roush, it is a brand new conversion

The number corresponds to old Ford engines that were big performance and racing engines. They all have about the same hp though. I am actually not that big of a fan of Roush. I like Steeda or Saleen better. Roush is ok but they look fake and cheesy to me for some reason.
