Dude, You can absolutely run a wider tire than a 245. In fact the 03-04 cobras run a stock 275 on a 17''x 9'' front and back. Also, control arms will help you put power to the ground assuming your tires are hooking. If your tires suck, control arms will simply allow your tires to spin wildly only without the hop. My point is control arms won't help you hook up if your tires aren't up to the task. My advice is run a 275 drag radial and take it from there. Remember wheel hop is not a problem if you are hooking up, only if you spin. No spin, no hop.
