can someone tell me what rear gears ,my 98 gt has? i was gunna upgrade to 4.10's but i think im gunna go with 3.73's. but i seem to be reading that 3.55's come stock on some mustangs and are good gears also. its a 5 speed btw.

Don't know about yours but mine has 3.08's and it is an automatic. Raise the rear of your car up and check the tag on the rearend cover.

yours are either 2:73 or 3:27. i believe that the 03-04 mach 1s and 03-04 cobras have 3:55's. i also think it's an option on some of the newer stangs too.

one way to check is jack up the back of your car and spin your back wheels 1 rotation and note how many rotations the driveshaft makes.

if i were you i would go with the 3:73's. they are a great every day driver gear and in no way are too steep.

my 03 GT came with 3.55s and im thinking about doing the upgrade to 3.73s supposedly it will only up my cruising RPM's by about 200 and still get me off the line much quicker..
Its a daily driver car so 4.10's or above are out of the question for me..

Not sure about the 98 model years, but my 02 came with 3.27's, soon to be swapped out with 3.73s
