Default 98 fuel pump modifications

on my 98 gt, i am adding a walbro 255 pump. now inside my tank is like a pump in a pump. the pump is mounted in a plastic cylinder . the reciever line that goes to the pump also attaches to what looks like a vacuum. on this reciever(the part that goes over the valve on the fuel pump there is like a little valve . can i cut this out and run straight fuel lines or will that mess it up

ok no pics available, but inside the tank on my 98 is different than what i have seen in the past. drop the tank and unscrew the access cover and instead of a drop arm, you come up with a plastic circular container. this container has two clips and then slides out. the fuel line from the access cover ends in a bridge that covers the metal nossel from the fuel pump and bridges to what i am guessing is a vacuum of some sorts. there is an article with pictures, i have to find the address and i will post it.. well i got rid of all that and used a fuel line i bought at a motorcycle custom shop that was rubber with metal surround so that it could bend but not pinch shut.. at anyrate it seems to be working minus the fact that since the intake swap after my car gets warm, say 5 to 10 minutes, it like chokes itself under moderate to heavy throttle

I did the walbro 255 in my 98. The only problem I had was; I had to crack the cylinder top for the pump to set in the resevoir, and sadly remove the OEM intake filter. The pump has been installed since september of last year with no problems.
