Default Engine boring, pistons cams and all that good stuff

Has anyone bored thier engines on thier late model stang? What exactly is required for this procedure? I want to set my engine up for a supercharger. Im sure Ill need some new pistons and Id like to put bigger cams in also? Does anyone have any input on this? Also what kind of price range am I looking at?

I only know a little and my kowledge pretains to the cams. Your stock cam would probably work better than any afteramarket one. If you do decide to get an aftermarket cam, go with one that has a slightly extended lift duration. Other than that, I've been told that as long as you get your engine proberly tuned and make sure your a/f is all good, then you can safely run a decent amount of boost on a stock 4.6 block.

Ya I know they can handle 8psi stock but Im looking to get some more ponies out of the engine before I make the step up to a supercharger, plus Id like to be able to run a little more than 8psi through a S/C, or at least have the option too.

Companies such as Mod Max make kits that allow you to increase the stroke of your engine but increasing the bore is a little difficult because the walls are so thin to start with. You can't really make any signifigant increase in the bore size of a 4.6.

To do it right you will have to get h beam rods and forged pistons set up for a blower. Our bottom ends are real week in our cars. Once you do that call up shm and have custom ground cams for a blower. Them get the heads ported and polshed. Dont use modmax springs. use stock.
then you will be able to use 14# OF BOOST. tHAT IS what my friend did.

You may want to check out DSS racing. You can get the complete block with forged internals for about the same price as the Mod Max kit by itself. Here is a link... http://www.dssracing.com/4.6supermod.htm
