03 mustang gt 57000 miles. i take the car out for a ride sunday no problems i go and take it out monday wouldnt start when started ran like crap i heard a ticking sound on passenger side top of motor. take valve cover off. the rocker arm had fallen off and the valve spring looked compressed. dont know what happened from sunday night to monday car stayed in garage. any help thanks

Sounds like you bent a valve. Start by pulling the plug and looking in to see if the piston is alright, but that's definitely not good, the head is gonna have to come off and get fixed at the least. Try to see what else got damaged first as you may be best looking for another engine, but that's a worst case scenario. You can try to fix it on the car, but I doubt its possible if the rocker is off and the spring is compressed that means the valve is siezed, and there will be damage to the guide, maybe the chamber.

you may of just had a lash adjuster take a crap on you if your lucky.
I have several extras if you should need one free of charge.

thanks is there a way to check if it is no good should i try and put the rocker back on and fire up the car. would that compress the spring with no rocker on it.
