Default slicks or drag radials

I have an '01 GT with the basic bolt ons and 3.73 gears. I am guessing I am putting down 240-250 rwhp. I am looking for a way to get better hook up at the track. what are other people running to get better 60' times - slicks or drag radials? do I need to upgrade my rear end with drag radials or just if i go with slicks?

Slicks will do a number to your tranny and rear end. Many times the stock setup will hold but its only a matter of time, the stock stuff wasnt made to take that much abuse. If its just for the track, slicks would be the way to go.

I agree, drag radials until you upgrade the rear. Run slicks, and you will be upgrading that rear sooner then later.

Thanks for the info. Would you guys recommend Nitto's drag radials or BfGoodwrench Comp T/A?

Should I consider running them to and from work every day, or put them on only at the track?

The Comp T/A is a street tire...The BF Goodrich drag radial is awesome, they stick like hell BUT don't last long and are not so great in the rain. Nittos drag radials hook amazing also, but you really have to heat them up to get the best out of them. They will also be better for street driving and last a bit longer. Another thing that is strange about the tires, I find 275/35/17 BF dr's to run a bit bigger then the same size Nitto, bigger in width. Hope this helps. I run the Nittos and have consisten 1.8 60 ft times with them...and I am no John Force at the track.

I run on 16's, yes 16's...I run Nitto 555R's, 245-45-16...they hook like crazy.
