I finally found it!! Here is a great article to shed some light on all the ram air questions that come up. Take it for what its worth...this guy is very intelligent. I hope this helps.
You have got to be my hero man. Thanks a lot for showing me this. One question tho..what if I get a functional ram air hood one that hooks up to the hood and intake like they say at cervinis? He saying that that doesn't work either??

I have said this in the past...and this article confirms...ram air just doesnt work. And now you know why. No ram air kit is functional...irregardless of what they say. Especially Cervinis...look how low and small the scoops are. Its a nice theory, and one I bought into for a while. But I learned, through this and a couple of other articles, some books, some track time with my own ram air (which was a miserable experience), and even HPTV..yes they did a segment on how ram air was nothing more than a flashy sales idea (had an interview with a Pontiac design engineer who actually showed why it didnt work, and never will). A kit like March and any other homemade kit is nothing more than an elongated cold air intake. It doesn't force any more air into the engine...its simply a duct to the cooler air outside the car. It stands to reason that the volume of air is greater at highway speeds...but that extra volume just wont make it into your engine.

Thanks for the post. I learned alot from that part and just read the part about "Fundamentals of air/fuel operating and effects of various MODS" it was a huge amount of help. I learned alot about how the PCM works during different modes of operation and the effects of lean/rich fuel mix on horsepower and economy. The author must have spent a long time on the site. I am glad that he has answered these questions. Thanks again and keep up the good work finding information that helps people understand what is happening in the engine.
well at the very least your getting some cooler air and thats a good thing! lol oh well as a former owner of Trans-Ams they will always have a special place in my heart, funtional ram air or not.
Lol...I would say no. But then again...you already knew that didnt you. It has been talked about before, and tried. You just cant produce the pressure needed with an electric motor. What does produce the right amount of air pressure is a supercharger or turbocharger. Now THAT is what I would cal "ramming" air in.

lol some guy bought one of those electric 12v fans off of ebay. They are called like an "electric supercharger". Well the fan broke off and went down into his intake.. They are garbage, lol but i'm sure we have all seen that leaf blower hooked up an intake picture.
I know it's not a good HP adder but the shaker on the Mach or the CDC kit sure do make a car look damn good. I was thinking of getting one just because it look's sooooooo good !!! KarKraft Eng. is coming out with one for the 2v GT that's going to use all Ford oem part's (Mach Hood & scoop) but with different bracket's to mount the shaker.
