smell Could be just residual odor in your ductwork from some coolant vapor having been sucked into your cowl vents back when your water pump died.
The air conditioner can cause condensation in the ducting on humid days. Dust collects in the moisture and around your heat exchanger coils too because they may ice up when it is humid, and this will hold odors for years.
That being said, if you don't smell the odor when you have it set on recirculated air, then check your cooling system again.
