Default How to Change Manual Transmission Fluid?

Hey, I will be changing my transmission fluid in my 1998 Mustang GT with a T45 soon. I have purchased the fluid already, but I have a few questions. I have heard that you can fill the transmission by removing the shifter and pouring the fluid into there? How would I know when it is full. Even though the T45 requires around 3.25 quarts, could I still open the fill plug and check the level?
All help is highly appreciated!

You can fill it through the shifter or the fill plug on the side but you have be prepared to get messy if you are squeezing bottles. A small hand pump is much better.

Ok! I think I will remove the shifter and fill it there. I know I will have to reseal the shifter though. But here is my question, can I leave the fill plug off when filling the transmission? or will it just leak out?
Thanks!

It is full when it starts coming out of the fill hole.
