The non PI heads can be ported to flow just as well as stock PI heads, and almost as well as the CNC ported PI heads. Air velocity is still a little slower due to the larger combustion chambers, but its not that bad. A good port and polish job, along with valve work shouldnt run you more than 650 bucks. PI cams 150 easy. New headbolts and gaskets/seals are gonna get you to around 200 bucks. You could expect to see an additional 45-50 HP and still retain a friendly compression ratio. I have the PI cams and will get the heads done hopefully sometime this winter or early spring.

If you're going to get P&P headwork done, use the bench flow numbers to order custom ground cams specific for your application. It will cost you a little bit more than off the shelf cams, but the performance difference will be worth it.

The shop I gave you in my first reply will flow the heads after they're done, and work directly with the cam manufacturer to get you the precise type of performance you want.

Talk to the experts. Call Don, tell him what you want out of your car, and he'll help you out. Or better yet, drive over and see him - take a look at the work they do in his shop.

You could also call Comp Cams help line at 1-800-999-0853. Its kind'a busy sometimes, but when you get through, they're a great help.

When you start getting into building your motor, its a tremendous outlay of cash. (From my perspective anyway) I'm in the process of getting the head porting and valve work done. When that is finished, then the flow numbers will be used for custom ground cams. Throw in pistons and rods, boring and balancing along with the assembly, its a pretty penny. But hell, I gotta get something outta being stuck over here for a year.
