Default cleaning the MAFS

should i clean my facotry MAFS at 52,000 miles? i do have a K&n filter, but have not yet recleaned it, would cleaning the mass air sensor help it run any better? i mean it runs good but better is better! and if so how do you do it, i need to know even if not now for future reference, u just disconnect it from the air intake tube and shoot it with brake parts cleaner?? thanks

You need to remove the sensor (black think on the top) from the MAF housing, then clean the filaments with a QTip and rubbing alcohol. Be gentle the filaments are thin.

DONT use brake cleaner, its acid and could get into the electroncis.

Use air intake cleaner... They sell it at the local auto parts stores.

just cleaned mine it had all the oil goo on it from the k&n, i hear thats a common problem with mustangs and k&n filters, the oil eventually comes off the filter little by little and builds up on the 2 little wires. clean them, your car will run beter, just be gentle
