Saleen Superchargers

Scroll down to the information on the Series I and II info.

If you don't have the blower yet, hold out for a Series IV which is the twin screw Lysholm blower which has more power potential and is more efficient.

If you have or are set on getting the M90 Roots blower, make sure it is at least the 4th generation style.

I had just clicked reply, and saw grn 00 gt posted right before me, so I'll edit, since it's the same info.

I would have to agree, Series I and II were M90's, so HP gain is going to be very limited by the size of the M90. Hold out for the IV.

yea i have recently purchased the entire saleen IV supercharger kit and i am not dissapointed. i got the kit from stage3motorsports.com for about 5k, about 3k later after install and tune it works awesome giveing me 465 rwp and 513 tourqe. ( along with other mods). i have been hearing allot of hallabaloo about how the kennebell equivalent is better, but i would have to disagree. my friend is pushing the same boost (9psi) and is only makeing 400 rwp. and the quality of the kit is unserpassed. i highly recommend this kit!

Forget Saleen, go for a Kenne Bell.

what makes you say that? i have a couple of experiences that favor kennebell and a couple that favored others. do you have any first hand knowledge that will prove your point , or just graphs that vary vastle in favor of the site that sells their product. kennebell makes great stuff top of the line. but i chose the saleen kit because i could get more hp at lower psi because of the way this specific one is designed.
anywho. just makeing idle conversation here

Both companies have a good product, imo.

KB uses their own design twin screw, and are the pathfinders for this technology in our cars. All the others are mostly using an Eaton core, which they call their "twin vortice" technology and which they either sell as components or license to companies like Saleen. It is subtly different from the KB units, but this also means that Whipple, Saleen, FRRP, Roush, MagnaCharger, etc are all essentially the same guts, with variable cases and so-forth.

The final choice as to which will fit the owner's plan can vary a good bit - sometimes the best "fit" will be one brand, and sometimes another. In the 99-04 models, there are different choices from the 05+, and so forth - this gets involved as well.

For a long time KB was the only company to offer the twin screw, and it is perceived to have "gotten to the top of the mountain" first. This gives them a certain reputation, in and of itself.

KB also has a history of maintaining a price or spec. advantage over the kits from Saleen, Roush, Whipple, etc., though with Saleen's recent bankruptcy and subsequent new management, pricing for their parts have become more competitive than in the past. This is also a reflection of the negative effects of their troubles on their reputation and their cutting off of warranty coverage at one point of their customers - though Mr. Saleen, himself, set up a new company (he is no longer the owner of Saleen - the company) and swore to back up those warranties himself.

This is a LONG story, and rather than go into all the gory details, I will simply say that there IS a logical case for using ANY of these various company's products, if only because of the power of marketing - packaging (I think Saleen's units are nicely detailed and tend to fit like an OE product) - or power output matching what the rest of the drivetrain can tolerate.

Finally, the old hands around here know how OFTEN we have gone through the "which supercharger should I buy?" question. A quick search of the site will find hundreds of on-point threads on this topic.

Sometimes, LOL, the short answer might even be the right one.

Personally before laying out $8k for such a project, I would review ALL the offerings, figure out my personal plan and lay them out on paper, and then make my choice. I recommend that the process include research into EVERY component needed for the job (some companies, like KB, have VERY complete kits, addressing everything from the fuel system requirements to the tiniest hardware - some other dealers sell incomplete kits lacking expensive items).

And as I've pointed out many many times the cost to supercharge anything less than a Terminator is a waste as you can sell your car, add the supercharger funds and have the Terminator...9psi on a non forged shortblock is on the edge of disaster.

Evil_GT and I both bought the Saleen Series IV kits back in May of 2007. We went with all the upgrades and I put down about 360-380whp. He went ahead and forged his bottom end and ported his heads, better cams, etc and puts down 430 whp boost only and about 500 whp with a 50 shot of Nitrous.

PM him if you want some more information on the Series IV, the people who bad mouth these kits haven't seen the ones that have been made more efficient and modified. Evil_GT also has a 10% overdrive pulley and is making pretty good boost with his Lysholm 1.6L blower.

My local tracks only an 8th mile so no time for top speed and on the street ima light to light racer so I need my bottum end, i'd rather go fast when I hit the gas rather than have to wait for top my top end
