Both companies have a good product, imo.
KB uses their own design twin screw, and are the pathfinders for this technology in our cars. All the others are mostly using an Eaton core, which they call their "twin vortice" technology and which they either sell as components or license to companies like Saleen. It is subtly different from the KB units, but this also means that Whipple, Saleen, FRRP, Roush, MagnaCharger, etc are all essentially the same guts, with variable cases and so-forth.
The final choice as to which will fit the owner's plan can vary a good bit - sometimes the best "fit" will be one brand, and sometimes another. In the 99-04 models, there are different choices from the 05+, and so forth - this gets involved as well.
For a long time KB was the only company to offer the twin screw, and it is perceived to have "gotten to the top of the mountain" first. This gives them a certain reputation, in and of itself.
KB also has a history of maintaining a price or spec. advantage over the kits from Saleen, Roush, Whipple, etc., though with Saleen's recent bankruptcy and subsequent new management, pricing for their parts have become more competitive than in the past. This is also a reflection of the negative effects of their troubles on their reputation and their cutting off of warranty coverage at one point of their customers - though Mr. Saleen, himself, set up a new company (he is no longer the owner of Saleen - the company) and swore to back up those warranties himself.
This is a LONG story, and rather than go into all the gory details, I will simply say that there IS a logical case for using ANY of these various company's products, if only because of the power of marketing - packaging (I think Saleen's units are nicely detailed and tend to fit like an OE product) - or power output matching what the rest of the drivetrain can tolerate.
Finally, the old hands around here know how OFTEN we have gone through the "which supercharger should I buy?" question. A quick search of the site will find hundreds of on-point threads on this topic.
Sometimes, LOL, the short answer might even be the right one.
Personally before laying out $8k for such a project, I would review ALL the offerings, figure out my personal plan and lay them out on paper, and then make my choice. I recommend that the process include research into EVERY component needed for the job (some companies, like KB, have VERY complete kits, addressing everything from the fuel system requirements to the tiniest hardware - some other dealers sell incomplete kits lacking expensive items).
