When I am driving my car this will happen randomly. Its been about 4 or 5 days since the last time it made the noise. From the little bit I was able to find I think it has something to do with the fuel pump. The car will make a loud whining noise like you moving an electric motor or something. the noise goes from soft at idle to loud at about 2500 rpm then fades past that. As I slow down the noise comes back.
I think if it is related it could be the cause of my second problem. Sometimes at idle the car will drop in rpms and then jump back up like im slightly revving it. Could a faulty few pump cause both of those issues? If so would replacing the fuel pump fix them or should I be checking switches and connections and all that stuff?
Ok few questions does it happen when your in all gears or does it only happen is 3, 4, 5th. Because that whinning noise like on my 03 4.6 usually is coming from the rear end. Its just the sound of your back differential. Its normal don't worry about it. Remeber you got a American V8 its gonna have some noises trust me its not good to worry about them. Trust me you'll go nuts. If you have your radio on with the windows up and you can hear it over that then I would worry about it.
Second for the idle usually the IAC needs to be replaced. But, more then likely I think what your talking about, and I assume its a manual. Is when your deselling and it jumps to like 1000 or 1100 then it drops back down? Im just guess but in that case no worrys its just your computer managing your Idle I personally wouldnt worry about it unless your sitting there and your Idle is just going up and down and up and down.
The noise I am describing comes from the front of the vehicle. It will be random, some days I hear it some I dont. When it does start to act up I will only hear the noise up to about 2.5 or 3k rpms. When at idle the noise gets louder as I turn my steering wheel too.
The 2nd part of about the car revving itself. Yes it is a manual and yes it does go up and down on its own at idle. Not moving just sitting at a red light and it moves itself. >.<
my wintercar pontiac grand prix gt made a wine noise like a supercharger an it dosent have one but turnd out to be headgasket
