Default Will Running slicks on a stock GT break anything????

Ok. I bought a pair of slicks. Now a lot of people on here are saying i shouldn't use the slicks with my stock car because i will break my rearend.... They also said i would need a drive shaft safety loop, sub frame connectors, stud extenders...... I want to know if this is all true.. I have a 2001 GT with only 1 chamber flows welded in and a K&N air filter.... I go to the track about once every couple months.... Does anyone have any proof to go with what they are saying... Thanks in advance to any one with any help.. This is my daily driver, i dont want to break it...

our cars are the heaviest stangs apart from the cobras...ive talked to joe dasilva, he told me to get 31 spline axles cause our stock 28's are not made for such stress, a new diff (detroit locker also, a good idea would be drag racing slicks with proper wheels....also...a driveshaft safety loop is mandatory on the track plus an aluminium drive shaft is good for your rear end as well....try to get your car on a weight loss program, take all unnecessary parts out...you also will need subframe connectors to keep your car nice and stiff during those high rpm launches our modulars need to be launched at...believe me....if you go with slicks you will need to spend some money to keep your car running....if you are not that serious about racing...you could just opt out for a pair of nitto's they are a great price for the drop in 60 foot time you will get..it all depends how much you want to get into it

I've heard of ppl breaking axles and tearing there ring and pinion gear apart with slicks on a stock rear end.

If your track requires it, get a driveshaft safety loop. I know the older mustangs can launch at 3500 with no other modifications and be okay. I don't know why you shouldn't be able to. I think everyone else is talking about 6000 rpm clutch drops. Don't do those.

you might be able to make a hundred passes on slicks with no breakage, or you might break on your first pass. it varies from car to car.

are the slicks you bought DOT legal, or are they straight up drag slicks?

also, what kind of wheel do you plan on running them on? lightweight drag rims, or steel wheels?
heavier rims can lead to breakage.

usually people will bust differentials before they bust axles in a near stock GT.

as for the driveshaft loop, any NHRA sanctioned track requires one at 12.99 or on any car running slicks. subframe connectors are a must on any mustang.

if you are going to build the rear end, you'll need to upgrade the differential along with the axles. you could go with a 31 spline traction lok, or an auburn or eaton posi. or a detroit locker (which is pretty noisey on the street.) if you were an all out racer you could go with a spool, but they aren't recommended for casual street use.

Is this for weight reduction or are the aluminums actually stronger? And if you were going to go with new axles and a new locker/differenial which would you get for street and possibly strip sometimes application.
I just order 3.73 so if I'm going to have it apart I might as well put these in at the same time.

I'd go with Moser 31-spline axles and either a FoMoCo or FRPP 31-Spline Traction-Lok differential.

for occasional track use I would not recommend a locker.

yeah, I'm at capitol quite often, when my schedule permits.

I'm hoping to do some midnight madness at MIR this fall on friday nights, but that track is like 2 hrs away from me, so I won't be there as much as I'll be at Capitol.
