No forged guts but it does have a heavy-duty frame, driveshaft, brakes, suspension, and shocks. Also has a heavy duty battery, alternator, cooling system and engine and transmission oil coolers.

Think a police interceptor would be a good pick up for a winter car?

They're solid cars and can be found pretty cheap at police auctions.

Should be reliable. But police cars are almost always abused and pushed to the limits all the time. I've been on ride-alongs with different police departments. And all of the officers had "lead foot" syndrome. They floor it from stoplights and they run the brakes hard at every turn.

Crown Vics are tough. I've driven retired squad cars with 100,000 + miles that live out their retirement as EVO vehicles for the police academy and get driven HARD day in and day out and they took everything we threw at them. There is nothing like the smell of tires smoking, exhaust, and break dust after a day of EVO. The transmission is what I would probably worry about more so than the engine, they seem to have to be rebuilt/replaced more often than the engine it's self.
