Bummer, I blew the HG in my 96 last month. Just put a Mark VIII 4V in it. Honestly, you would be better off just changing the head gasket rather than putting a new motor in.

does it just blow out the smoke on startup? or all the time?

My old 'Stang, when the valve stem seals went at like 140k miles, it would clear mosquitos from the neighborhood. It would even puff a little taking off from stoplights. I replaced the valve stem seals, and 99.9% of it was gone.
