Default T-56 Swap trouble

I am finishing off a T-56 swap in my 99 Mustang GT.

I am using a Cobra driveshaft and the rear flange of the GT driveshaft. I have a 1330 to 1350 u-joint.

The issue is the flange from the gt driveshaft has a 1.059" and the size of a 1330 u-joint is 1.0625". The difference in size is only .003" but is enough to not risk pressing the u-joint into the flange as it will not fit without a significant amount of force, and taking a chance of breaking the u-joint and/or flange.

Is this a common occurence? What are the options to fix? Different u-joint or new flange?

Thanks for any help.

I did the same swap into a 2000 GT, here is the link.

PM me if you need more information.

I don't recall the U joints being any harder to press in then any other set I have installed.

If all else fails, you could take sandpaper (light grit) and put it around a deepwell socket that is a little smaller than the flange hole and sand lightly in a circle to enlarge it just enough to fit correctly.

Also use lubrication when installing.

Only use a vise to press them in if you have access to one.

Thanks. Ive got it down on how its suposed to go together.

Im not sure if I can sand it down that much.

Last night I tried heating the flange to expand it and freezing the u-joint to compress it. Nothing. I am going to try and get the flange hotter tonight to see if I can get it to expand more. If all else fails I either will buy a new flange, or machine out the old flange.
