Default head swap without removing engine

is this possible?

i dont have the money to pay a shop for the job, and i dont have the tools to pull the engine myself

i have a delima!

my dad seems to think there is no way on earth to swap heads without engine removal, i think we can do it..

please, dont just say "try it" or "maybe"

give me educated answers, or direct me to a site that can help. thanks!

I have done it many times as a ford engine tech I am not pulling the motor to do heads. It is a bit harder but not terrible by any means. Just be carefull to set the motor up properly before removing the chains. Chris

Agreed. It can be done, it's just a tad harder. The biggest problem is that a few of the headbolts can't be installed or removed with the head in the car, so you have to loosen em off, then pull em out and put a spacer in there to hold them while you take off/install the heads.

Thick rubberbands work wonderfully to hold the headbolts while you remove/install cylinder heads in the car.

its not a bad job at all in the car. the hardest part the whole pi swap is putting the freaking dipstick tube back in.

your new head gasket kit will come with rubber spacers to hole the bolts up during the install. leave exhaust manifolds bolted to the heads
