Default 2002 Mustang GT Exhaust Questions, which is best?

I have a 2002 GT auto got about 150k miles
bone stock but on the way KnN intake kit.

i have either a crack in my exhaust manifold or a leak in the cats not sure but either way i wantd to swap these anyway.

What's best for sound quality , i heard the h pipe is a much better sound but less loud than the x, ad should i got with cat backs or un catted? not so much of a braniac when it comes to this.

also what are the best headers to go with shorties or LT's, i was thinking about BBK shorties.

Thanks to whoever gets back to me

Nick,

Shorties are a total waste of money, and on a mild 4.6, longtubes are way down on the list of mods to do for performance vs. gains.

Honestly, there's not much difference in HP between any of the midpipe and catbacks on the market, so go to YouTube and listen to as many Mustangs as you can, find one that you like the sound of, and replicate it.

That's the best exhaust for the Mustang, the one you'll love listening to whenever you're in it....... Anything else I tell you is purely my opinion, what I like the sound of may sound like complete crap to you.

well ur x pipe sounds like a formula car and the h pipe has a deeper roar really only like 2 hp in diffrence and it deppends if u have emmisions wher u are then id get high flow cats but if u dont have emmsions and like loudness id get offroad mid pipe. and if ur gona do headers go with l/t's harder to install and work around but more worth ur money and ur mid pip will be cheaper. and if u do headers make sure u get after market bolts get the alan head ones with the locking set up makes life easyer

If you get LTs you'll need to pull your engine to work on your tranny. buy exhaust for the sound you like not the "claimed" gains from the manufacturer, they will mostly all give you the same gains
