help, i have a 96 mustang coupe with a 351w swapped in. i bought it for 1500 and it has over
3 grand in bolt on and various drivetrain upgrades. i know the motor was bad. i changed the gooey mixture that was supposed to be oil after draining it for a day, blew the water out of the cylinders, replaced the plugs, got the rusted butterflys on the 4 barrel unstuck, poured in some new oil and replaced filter, cleaned the gunk out of the intake manifold, slapped it back together and fired her up and ran loud and beautifully...for 3 min before she started to squeal and seized. my girlfriend cried about her newly aquired dream car and i threw a wrench. in hindsight i should have done what i planned to do in the first place and filled the f-er's crankcase with diesel for a day or two before i replaced the oil.
two options are available to me.
1 i just pull and rebuild with a master kit for 375$ w/o knowing if theres a crack in the block or not.
2, i can get one that runs from pick and pull for 175$ plus 30$ core, and dont care about much other than oil burning, i have a manifold, headers, cams, a decent carb, msd ign. and it has a brand new
tranny from before i bought it.
ive done made a decision to get the junkyard 351w and rebuild the current one to kick-ass proportions while the junkyard special is keeping her alive and on the road
here is where i need help. i need to know the various 8th position codes for the 351 windsor for the various years in pickups, vans, and cars alike so i can find the replacement 351w. please help
