Default 1997 Mustang GT Junkyard Brake Upgrade

I'm looking for information concerning brake upgrades using donor vehicles out of a local scrap yard. Can anyone tell me if the 2001 - 2005 brakes / brackets / rotors / calipers / misc. parts (both from GT models & V6 models) will bolt up to my 1997 GT? I'm also in the process of lowering it down 2", although I'm not sure if that will make a difference with the brakes.

Thank You,

Jeff

I would strongly advise against trying to upgrade brakes from a junkyard, you can get parts that are no good, and with brakes, no good can get you or others killed. 96-04 parts should fit, but unless you use cobra parts they aren't really an upgrade. After 04 they are different fit. Brakes and suspension are 2 things you don't try to skimp on, your life depends on them. You blow a motor, its expensive, but in the end, you pull over, tow it, and fix it, brakes or steering go out, unless you are multiple lottery winning type (which obviously you're not or wouldn't be asking this) you wreck the car or worse.

Dont skimp on the safty, its like buying a POS gun to protect yourself with.

2 inches might be a little too much to lower without major work and it will probly kill your cornering. 1" to 1.75" is usually the max unless you are going for a show car only. I lowerd my GT 1.5" and i wouldnt go any lower for a DD.

+1...get yourself some Cobra setups or Bullitt/Mach 1 from Ebay, great prices on used and new. Also the 13" rotors look much better

yeah good one racing 366. You sould buy brakes that do work, from a junk yard you will need to inspect it. I would rather get it from online or craigslist.org I just sold a 03 cobra brake kit set of four. I would of tell you but is to late. I would get a front set of mach ones they are 13 inch pretty cheap and are like the cobra style price rang is from $400 to 450 new including all hardware kit
