Default '02 Diagnostic Oil Pressure Question

Alright I am totally confused. I read this article, and although it does not apply to the 2002 model, I am taking a guess and hope it is the same for my year. http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/dtcodes.htm
Here is what happened. I was driving down the freeway at 70mph when my service engine soon light came on. I knew about this diagnostic webpage and thought i would give it a try. Well, turns out this handy set-up gave me a code "5284 Oil Pressure Switch Failure" and when I went to the digital readout it gives after giving me the code, the oil read 0 as in no oil pressure I believe, but my oil guage on the cluster was dead smack in the center. WHAT THE HELL!

I am sorry guys but I figured out the answer. If anybody has this same problem though, it is normal. The digital dianostic readings just blow.

Actually Ford has a known problem with the Oil pressure sending switch. I had the same codes and the swtich was bad. I replaced it and all was fine. Also if you are running a chip there could be a problem with the program or the chip. Piggy back underdrive pullies will cause the same code to be thrown. if underdrive pullies crank pulley isn't torqued correctly and it starts to back out a little the sensor is not reading correctly and will throw the code too. These are 3 things that caused my light MIL to throw that code.

You will also notice if you are a little low on oil and you accelerate fast you may throw the same code too.

it senses the oil pressure and will shut the motor down if it fails to read oil pressure...its more like a safety switch. it is located by the oil filter in the front of the motor.
