There is a fuel shut off switch in the trunk of the vehicle which is
designed to go off after an accident. It is on the drivers side near the tail light on the inside of the trunk a little red reset switch which might have to be reset. It is designed to trip when an accident occurs to avoid engine fire. I dont know if this is the problem but it is a possibility
thanks, that was the first thing I tried...if it was that, wouldn't the car still turn over? I think so but am not sure...regardless, the red button is already in and can't be pushed.
This could be a stupid question, but considering that the damage is on the driver's side, have you checked the battery to make sure that it wasn't damaged? You only said that it wouldn't start, but I don't think that you mentioned if it even tried to turn over.

what would you suggest, I kill him? he's grounded, lost his cell phone, disconnected his PC from the internet, won't get his license for at least another year...
it won't turn over...I have full power to radio, lights, etc...and tried jumping it too...
Not kill him, I was think more along the lines of the glass coffin from "V"... Seriously, just kidding. I agree, I would take everything away. I would also make him get a job if he doesn't already have one. Maybe he would learn some responsibility.
Look for the starter relay in the engine compartment along the wall behind the battery (near the strut). Small kinda round black thing with a couple of bolts.

so it's not part of the starter? It's a separate component?
he had a job but I made him quit as part of the punishment...I am rethinking that one because if he works, he pays me back faster for the repairs on the car!!!
he was having too much fun at work...he worked in a mall in one of the kiosks that sell and install cell phone accessories...his friends would come by to chat, and hang out. He ran the stand, no bosses around to chase his friends away!!
I'm thinking the problem is starter related...if the fuel cutoff button popped, the car would probably still crank.
No Pep Boys around here...maybe a good book store..??
Barnes and Nobel always has them, or any other good book store. Chilton is a really good book to have around. Sometimes they make things harder than they need to be, but always a good reference source.
So all of your accessories turn on... but no noise at all of the engine attempting to crank? If not, can you hear a clicking sound?

no clicking, nothing...full power to everything, and even tried jump starting...I'm thinking maybe the impact to the fender may have jarred something loose..??
Hmm, I think you may be on the right rack then. Nothing is going to starter. Check out the relay and see if any of the wires came lose. Maybe it knocked it lose in the accident, then held on long enough to get the car home.
Just take off both the pos and neg wires from the battery first since the pos wire leads to the relay (just in case).

when I took the fender off I found a connector that was hanging and not plugged into anything...I know this is not unusual, because I've seen that before on other cars...however, in this case I am wondering if it needs to get plugged back in somewhere...
after all, once the car is running the starter really serves no purpose, correct? so if it is running when the accident occurs, it should continue to run until it is shut off...
I just noticed you are from Marietta...I've been there on business a few times...I work for UPS and we outsource keyentry work to a place in Marietta...in fact when I visit, I stay at the hotel in front of Dave and Busters (Marriott??) The office is right next to that water park that was closed for awhile when they had a health scare a few years back.
