If you can get him to put that price on paper, jump on it. I've heard of people spending 600-800.

450 for headers is a great price. I would jump on that.

Dude, why aren't you taking it to the shop you talked about in the "C&L plenum" posting? If they can make the 34 HP with just an X pipe install and ECU reprog, I'd be standing in line.
Put the upper plenum on yourself...save a couple bucks and it's simple. And then you get the bonus of dirty fingernail satisfaction and can tell your buds that, "I did it myself." $450 for labor for long tubes is about the going rate around here in FL; But I've heard of guys paying $600 in labor, because it's majorly labor intensive. Talk to the shop about it and they'll explain what's involved. Then you'll be jumping at the $450.

Default Header install

jump on the $450; mine was $600 and doing it does indeed suck

believe me I know how labor intensive a header install is as for the plenum and throttle body that kids play but 450.00 goes a long way to buy parts or even a gear swap

Oh man, didn't know you don't have gear. Yeah, agreed, don't do headers before gear, IMO. I paid $400 (parts and labor) for my FRPP 3.73s and love 'em. Again, IMO, I'd work the exhaust from back to front, starting with a cat-back system, then an aftermarket X or H pipe, then headers. But dollar for dollar, you'll get more kick in the a$$ from a gear swap. (I'd rather be quick than sound quick - know what I mean?) If money is tight, you can simply have a couple of Flows welded in for $200 - that's what we have on my wife's 01 GT for now.
My 1st mods on my 02 GT: 3.73s, Flowmaster catback, Pro 5.0 shifter, Superchip.
My 2nd mods on my 02 GT: 85mm MAF, Trueflow Tube, TB & plenum.
My 3rd mods...not sure yet! (possibly lower stance/new wheels/tires)
I've done a few other things along the way, like new tint on both GTs - almost $600 total for both, yeah, you can get cheaper, but you get what you pay for - plus we both already had tint that had to be removed. New tires on the 01 GT set us back about $800. OK, enough already... Best of luck, my friend.

I agree on both points.
1. Do gears first. 4.10's if you don't plan on a power adder and 3.73's if you plan a blower, turbo or NO2 down the road. I have 3.73's and love them. Really woke her up. Would have gone with 4.10's if it wasn't for my blower.

2. Do you exhaust from the rear forward. Great advice. I went with dynomax catbacks, BBK H-pipes with cats and Long tubes but hated the long tubes, sold them and the H-pipe and bought some FRPP shorties and another BBK Hpipe.

You do realize lowering your car will slow your 1/4" mile times down, right?

Yeah, that's what I've been reading...OK, OK, but I need to do something to tighten up the chassis. (I love riding my pony, but sometimes that's the feeling I get - that I am riding ON it, rather than IN it.) I'm really not looking to drop it much at all - like an inch or less, partially for handling, partially for looks. What would you recommend? Subframes connectors? Better shocks/struts? ???
I'm also thinking of going with 17X9" rims, so I can run bigger tires (and something better looking the deluxe 5 spoke GT rims - I guess I'm glad I didn't get bullit rims, as I see them everywhere now.) Personally, I love the cheap as dirt 98 Cobra 17X9 rims, painted...at about $125 each they are a bargain. What are the benefits/drawbacks with 18" rims?

Someone else on here would probably be more qualified to help you on the suspension. I only like going in straight lines and could care less about carving corners. I was going to go with Moroso Front Drag spring and Lakewood 90/10 Struts in the front and cutdown fox springs in the rear. Probably not the ride your looking for. The front end flys up on you.

I guess I got mixed up. I usually call in NOS but you're a bit anal about that.
