Default Aluminum Pedal Installation

Heya Fellas and Chicks,

Are Ford Racing pedals easy to install? Plz say no, cuz im feeling like i have no mechanical skills at all while trying to install them.
i ended up breaking a tab on my original dead pedal, i finally got the pin out of the gas pedal.
so now i have the new dead pedal on, clutch pedal installed, brake pedal is 3/4 on, and i cant for the life of me get the pin back thru on the gas pedal. ive tried using the channel locks to press the pin back through, but the only thing i have to grip onto is the plastic on the aluminum pedal, and im afraid of breaking it.
Anyone have any secret stradegy to this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanx
-Rob

Put the brake pedal in hot water for a couple minutes, it should slip right on then. I used cannellocks to get the gas pedal in, but I damaged the plastic and the pin fell out a couple days later. I replaced the pin with a small bolt and locknut been on for 2 years now no problems. Hope that helps good luck

I used a 4x6 inch mirror and small straight slot screwdrivers to pry them around the metal pads. Yep, the gas pedal was definately the toughest - I too had thought about just using a bolt and nut...you'll never see it anyway. Channel locks or wide vise grips help and you can also slightly taper the pin to make getting it started easier. This turned out to be a two - three hour job, but ya know what? A couple weeks later we bought another set for my wife's 01 GT. They are the best looking pedals and, in the end, worth the frustration.

Very frustrating and took me almost 3 hours. Results worth it though, even if nobody ever sees them but me.
