Question performance chip question

I just bought a 2004 Mustang Gt and went on ebay to look at performance chips. They say it will increase hp+20. I was wondering if this is true? I don't want a product that will ruin my engine, and is it worth buying? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i wouldnt worry about a chip til later down the road, after u done some serious or significant mods, from what i hear thats what they are best used for to reprogram air/fuel ratios and stuff like that, unless u get gears or have an auto u might want to get a chip to reprogram shift points and the speedometer
