just like the title. has anyone done a pi intake swap on a non-pi motor? did you have any problems with it? I know corral and moddepot has but i want to know if anyone on here has.
i think i am going to try it this weekend. ill let u guys know.
i have a 99 pi intake i know i have to drill and tap for sensor but i would rather put it some where else, but where? I know there is another spot to tap into, but i forgot does anyone know?
the 96-98 cars have two sensors at front of manifold; PI Manifold is drilled for one; 2nd boss needs to be drilled, believe it's 3/8 npt.
Some help: http://www.enthusedproductions.com/headswap/

Dealing with the port missmatch.........try cutting you own gaskets. You can match the ports and not have to use silicone sealant. SILICONE WILL NOT HOLD UP! When in the presence of gasoline fumes, it will slowly deteriorate. :thumbsup
There was a guy on here that said all he did was lay the new PI intake gasket on the NPI head and trace the inside of each hole in the gasket onto the heads and the he would use a die grinder and open the holes on he head up to match fit the NPI heads to the PI intake. He checks the boards once in a while so I imagine he might chime in.

driftpin i am just going to put on the intake becasue i am looking for a 99+ block so i am just doing this for the mean time. im going to use non pi gaskets and see what happens.
-i have a 99 or 00 intake so i dont think i can tap the plastic intake.

No I wouldn't try to tap it either . I'm still trying to figure out what the drivers side tapping is for? Is it a secondary water tempurature sensor??

Ok, I'm Interested now. I'm wanting to know more about the intake swap. What's the supposedly hp and torque increase. Price and how much work will it take. I'm up for doing it if any of you think it is worth it.

If you try to put the PI intake on your non-PI heads without the kit that Livernois makes you are almost gaurenteed leaks. There are some guys on modular depot that say they suceeded in doing it with no leaks but used massive amounts of silione. I would only suggest it as a temporary measure or to buy the adaptor plates from Livernios. I think it's like a 15-20hp gain but not positive.

Cut your own gaskets to the PI port shape. The water port will take a little thought to cut the right shape, kinda a mixture of the two. Port matching your heads on the car is VERY simple. Pick one port at a time, make sure the valves are closed, cram a few cotton ball down in the port, melt some wax (like used for canning vegetable because this is very soft) to seal the port completely. Port match about a 1/4 inch into the port for smoothness. Then simply use a pick to catch the cotton balls with the wax and pull it out. I have done this to countless types and sized of engines without fail. Not as good as the whole PI swap, but much cheaper and easier. Gasket material used to work on all of the older engines, I do not see why it wont work on these.

I knew you would pop in and give them the scoop
