Default 98 GT Speedometer Fuse??

Hey all,

Dump question! I was pulling my 98 GT Automatic out of storage last night with my bothers help. Well while I was looking for a a socket to fit the battery hold down, he threw the battery in and got it turned the wrong way, and crossed up the terminals. Needless to say he got sparks seeing how the key was on!! I put the battery in and the car fired right up so I figured there was nothing wrong till I went to drive it home. No door locks, dome lights, radio, which I am assuming is fuses (haven't had a chance to look at them on the interior fuse block) But the most troubling thing was that the speedometer and odometer is not working?!? I was assuming that the speedo and odo where manual and not electronic. Is there a fuse for the speedo? Is there a speedo sensor on the trans or under the hood that could have blown?

He feels terrible, so I hope it is something simple. I did have 2 blown 25 amp fuses blown at the box under the hood that I replaced but it made no difference in anything.

Thanks for the help!

Shooter

That's why you don't let brother's touch anything.

Unless brother is code for "I ****** up but wont' admit it."
I recall several other threads where "my brother" did something stupid and jacked the car up.

Just playin' dude.

I'm uncertain about your problem. My car is a '99 so it's probably different. Good luck.

Default Thanks..

For the helpful tip..Nope, not me..I was a dealer mechanic for 18 years, if I did it I wouldn't be posting cause I would have pulled the trigger..haha However, I HAVE done some pretty dumb sh** and always willing to admit it :-)

Default (Solved) Speedometer fuse

Solved it. It was a 10 amp fuse inside the car that controlled the dome lights, door locks, radio, AND the speedo and odometer..who knew!
