Quick question- does anybody know if the height of the front bumper fascia on a 2001 Cobra (distance from the ground to the bottom of the bumper) is the same as that of a same year GT? Or is it a little lower? All else such as spring height being the same of course. I'm thinking about swapping out my stock fascia for the FRPP 2001 Cobra fascia conversion kit to get rid of the ugly liscense plate cut-out and would like it that much more if it was a little lower in the front also.
And on another note- I know I'll need to get rid of the honeycomb grille and wonder if I have to use the floating pony from the Cobra or if I can use a Mach I kit with the lower black-out panel?
Thanks!

It's actually a little bit higher then the GT if you get it without the Cobra R lip. You'll have to find a running horse or something to stick in there. As far as the lower blackout panel, I don't know if it'll fit over the hump that's already there.
Thanks Mana, I see that you have it on yours already. Like I said, my primary reason for wanting to change it is to get rid of the gap for the plate; I really like the smooth and clean look of the Cobra fascia. I was hoping it would sit a little lower, but I think maybe the Steeda Sport Springs I'm gonna put on will counter that look a little. I like the R model splitter and all, but I've got alot of speedbumps in my neighborhood and that makes me kinda nervous to get. Especially with them being about $500.00 (before paint and install), not to mention my driveway is canted a little on entry and the wife gets REALLY close to curbs when she parks
Thanks for the input Mana, overall though, would you still do it again if you had the chance or would you get a different style fascia?

If you want the fascia, let me know. I can prolly sell it to you for better the $500... I'll check it out at work tomorrow... The shipping is expensive, But I think I can get it for somewhere in the ballpark of $375 plus shipping. Let me double check that tomorrow.
why not go with an '03 cobra front bumper? i personally would probaby go with the saleen. i think it comes down a little further in the front, too. tats just my .02 .

I like the look of an '03 Cobra fascia also but you have to swap the hood also to make it work correctly. The '03 Cobra hoods leading edge is a little lower than the GT hood and the fascia is also a little lower at the top. If you use the '03 Cobra fascia with the GT hood it will leave a noticeable gap, and that sucks. I would go with the combination of the two but to me it's not worth double the money, and I don't want it to start looking too much like a Cobra clone
As far as the Saleen bumper goes, they are cool but they don't really look right unless you go with the whole body kit to match.
The Roush fascia looks good to me but man, they are really proud of thier stuff when it comes to price!
I have found the '01 Cobra fascia kit for $299.00 so I think it's the way I'm going to go, but I'm still listening to others opinions. The $500.00 price that I was talking about earlier was for the Cobra R splitter kit. The real thing from Ford costs about that much, and that's just for the splitter! Steeda makes a less expensive add-on splitter but it doesn't look as good as the Ford part and it is a permanent mount. The Ford splitter comes with quick-release mounts so you can remove it if you wish.

wow, i had no clue tat the'03 cobra hood and front bumpers were different sizes than 99-04 v6, gt, and cobras....why the hell would they do that? sounds to me like the (ford) would lose money changing stuff like that n one is gonna buythse partsfor their 99-04 if the pieces dont have a "factory fit"...you know what i mean?

Well, they have a "factory fit", they just need to be used together (the fascia and the hood) to look right. I've seen a few cars with one or the other and they just don't look "right" unless they are used together. Even the FRPP '04 Catalog says don't use one without the other. Sucks though, 'cause the '03 Cobra fascia has about the perfect height IMHO.

i know they fit together. but i meant that the '03 cobra bumper woudn't have a "factory fit" when thown on a '01 gt without purchasing a '03 cobra hood too. does anyone make an aftermarket '03 cobra bumper that fits? i still dont understand why ford would do that

Thanks for the link, they have a lot of stuff on that page, like you said though most of it say "ricer". I looked at all of thier kits and still like the look of the original Cobra R and the Roush Stage III front fascia. Because I can get the Cobra fascia for close to $300.00 (and that includes the lghts, etc.) and the Roush piece is $400.00 (without the lights, no less!), I've about settled on the Cobra fascia.
I checked with a couple of local paint and body shops and was quoted $200.00 to $285.00 to prime, paint and clear coat the fascia off the car, and then give it back to me to install myself. Most of them said they would probably paint it off the car anyway since my paint is still practically new and no blending should be needed. Does this price range sound correct? Are there any paint and body guys here that can verify what I was told about painting it off the car and blending probably not being necessary?

When I got mine done they said you always want to blend it in... But it's up to you.
