Default gauge install

Okay, 2 questions. Mana, you could help me out on this one I know (because I think I bought the same gaiges as you)

1. Where did you put the live wire. I don't want to shave my headlight wire to expose it, so is there a better way/ place to put the red (power) wire. Maybe in the fuse box under the drivers side????

2. How do I correctly calebrate my gauges afterwards. I've already installed a set of gauges on my car once, but they crapped out on me so I'm replacing them. I still think my RPM's are off about 1-2 hundred so I would like to get it right this time around.

any help here is much appreciated. thanks in advance

yeah, they're tough......mine are messed up. MPH is like 3-4 over actual speed, gas is a bit off, RPM is about 1-2000 off. but they only thing i can think of is to get the digital gauges which come as a set, and just plug them in. problem solved, $369 later.

Default JUst for you

Just for you I went and took a picture of the wire I tapped into for power for my gauges. This is key on current for the power for the gauges. That's what you wanted right? That harness is underneath the drivers side next to the steering column.

Any other questions, let me know... I gotta go.
PS... That's the wire tap for my oil pressure gauge and volt meter. Not my White face gauges. You have to tap that gauge off of the headlight switch. Use a test light I forgot which wire it was and it's too hard to get too right now.

thanks alot mana. so that wire will give my gauges power when I turn on the headlights? also, does anyone know how to correctly calibrate the gauges, or is there a way to get them correctly calibrated after such an operation. I'm tired of having messed up readings on my gauge cluster!

NOO!! I misunderstood what you were asking for. That's a power source for hooking up aftermarket gauges. If you want a source for power for the faceplates that go over your stock guages you need to find out which wire you hook it up to off of the headlight switch. If I remember right, it's the brown wire. But I'm not sure. Use a test light and turn the lights on and off to figure out which wire it is.

Sorry about that.

The best way to calibrate gauges is to never take off the needles... It's best to get a faceplate that slides over all the needles.

ohhhhhhhhhhhh. thanks again then. I don't think I will be able to slide my needles under the face plate though. Were you able to do it, because I think I have the same gauges? If not, isn't ford able to recalibrate them? Damn this is gonna be annoying. I've already done it once. I just hope I don't mess them up any more.......crud......
