Default Well found out some good news then stang died for a sec

Well i found out that tire discounters when they put my rear tires on back in feb they did fill them up to the max recommended 44psi!!! No wonder i couldnt get traction at the track!! So i set them to 30 now. So now when i go again later this summer ill have the K&N FIPK and the control arms and subframe connectors and tires set right!!! I might have PI cams but dont know yet. So i better get that 14.9 or better, there was my problem right there, live and learn. So i was driving the stang after that feeling better when i came to a stop and it died. Did this twice..as long as i am driving it it was fine. The car usualy does this after it sets a week and idles a little bad at a stop but never died. I usually give it hell for a sec or two and it goes away. The plugs were changed at 46,000 as well as they wires. I got a new TPS when i got my TB around 46,000 as well. I cleaned my MAS and IAT sensor when i installed the FIPK. everything is connected and its not throwing any codes. It has 57,000 on it right now, any suggestions? I went and bought some Fuel injector cleaner and then let it sit after i ran it. So far great perfect idle and nothing like that again. Maybe that was it or not, what about the AIC or whatever that is, i took it off and cleaned it best i could but arent they known for going bad?? Maybe thats it. I dont know. I got the car at 39,000 miles and it was always driven like a granny by an older woman before me. IT still had the air silencer on it. I drove it daily for about 7 months and most of the time i drive it softly. but gootta give it some hell sometimes. And sicne last Sept it has been only a weekend car. I hope none of my mods did this but it did this before the FIPK and x-pipe. And it doesnt do it all the time anyways.

i would be willing to bet that most of your traction problems had to do with your over inflated tires. You should be all good now.

My '03 does the same thing every now and then. I usually run premium gas in it so I don't think it's clogged injectors and after it throws it's little tantrum it will idle perfectly. Throttle response is good and everything. I think they just randomly do this, maybe a problem in the design of the EEC's?? This morning I started her up and was missing right off the bat, I gave it a couple stabs with the gas to about 2 grand and she ran just fine every since.

well i am glad i am not alone, maybe they just get PMS like other ladies, i heard the IAC goes bad but dont wanna spend a hundred on it for it to do nothing, i did get gas in a different place then before. This first time i ever noticed this is when i finally parked it and got another daily driver. I let it sit for a week and it did this. I theorized it was bad gas or sumthen from a place that sells cheap gas, which i never go to anymore. I ran it on the highway for a while and problem cleared. And then it would do this every so often, that lil bad idle and kinda tug when gently pressing on accelerator while cruising but if i got on it and went wide open throttle problem dissappeared and it ran many more times before it acted up again. I just thought thats how the car was til the other day it died. I didnt enjoy that, but then i got some gas from a different place and used that injector stuff just to see and it didnt die anymore ran fine thena a few times did that idle, i use 87 is it possible i need better octane with my few mods??? like 89??

well if you "needed" higher ocatane than you would hear it ping. If it isnt pinging you dont need higher octane but you could run 89 just so it is burning a little cleaner. Why dont you clean your IAC instead of replaceing it?

I don't see anything in your mods that would cause a rough idle normally. Did all this happen before the new TB or after? Maybe something there is causing an issue, just a wild guess though. You should be fine running 87 octane until you go for a timing adjuster or a chip that advances your timing for you. Other than that the only thing I can say is women, can't live without 'em...can't shoot 'em.

well there is no pinging involved and i will clean the IAC this weekend when i get some extra dough for the cleaner, lol i spent it all on the PI cams and the subframe. It may be a case of bad gas again or maybe dirty injectors. I dunno, i ran the old fuel out added the injector cleaner last night and problem didnt continue, well slightly erratic idle but no dieing. Then today i went to drive it just a bit ago, ran perfect, best smooth idle its ever had so if problem stays away sweet. If it happens again i am gonna clean the IAC and see what happens. If it still persist i am gonna replace it and maybe the EGR valve. I dont think its anything else i have cleaned everything else including the electrical connections. Its prolly just the IAC tho. I hear its commen

I replaced fuel filter back at 46,000 miles, well ford supposedly did, lol. I think i am gonna clean the AIC and replace the egr, its know to cause idle problems as well and cause that slight surging at cruising speeds sometimes, which my car does every now and then. I think ill replace that and clean AIC for now
