Default Electrical problems...Brake lights and turn signals

Vehicle. 1998 Mustang GT 4.6l Automatic Tranny.

Problem...Brake lights. When brakes are applied and then the right turn signal is turned on, the rear blinker blinks quickly and the front does not blink at all. If the signal is turned on without the brake pedal depressed, the blinker blinks fine on both the front and rear. Also on the rear panel brake lights, two bulbe do not work. It is the ones above the back-up light. I think they are related. Any ideas on what could be my problem?

Thanks a bunch...

Tom

When the lights are on, the light above the back-up light will come on, but no brake light will illuminats. Everything else acts the same.

Thanks for your reply...

have you done any work on the taillight? it sounds like you have a problem with the brake lights. usually, if the light blinks fast, that means there is a blown light somewhere. if there wasn't any work done on the taillight, check the relay under the dash. i believe it is a blue box about 2" x 3" x 1".

All turn signal bulbs have been checked.

What should I check in the relay? What should I do to check it?

Turn your emergency flashers on and off a few times and see if this cures the problem.
Power is routed through this switch and you can have a bad connection resulting in the above described symtoms.
I have seen quite a few vehicles with the same problem

Good luck,
