1998 Mustang GT ,Wont Start

My friend turned off my car without pushing the switch to release the key. Now it won't start. Anyone know what to do?

You need to clean this up and clearify it so that we can help you out. There is no switch you have to push on a 1998 to turn the car off...if so one of us has a special 98! There is the switch you push to turn the key to the off position so you can remove it. Clean it up!!

Life is to short to live it pissed off cherish who and what you got while you can!

Could the OP be referring to the key release on a manual transmission car?

Sounds like it needs a new ignition switch.

Yea that's the switch I'm talking about. I'm thinking it has something to do with the computer system since it keeps flashing THEFT

Is the symptom no start or no crank?

The anti-theft (PATS) does not have a "switch" to turn on/off. It's automatic. A slow blinking theft light is OK. A fast blink with the key in the on position indicates a problem.

Both. Won't crank nor start. You think it's the theft?

For the 96-98 MY, if PATS has been activated, the symptom is "no crank".

For the 99-04 MY, if PATS has been activated, the symptom is crank with no-start.

FWIIW, it's pointless to say that you have both a no-crank and a no-start. Of couse if the motor does not crank, it won't start. To say anything other than no-crank could only confuse the ppl trying to help you.

Ok. I get you. There is no crank is what I was trying to get to. I'm thinking that it has to be the anti-theft system.
