Default Welding on H pipes

Do off road h-pipes have to be welded on? Or can someone run off roads until its time to get the inspection and then bolt back on the stock cats? With just bolting on would I have to worry about exhaust leaks? Thank you all for you ideas.

most ive seen bolt on to the exhaust manifolds/headers and bolt to the muffler pipes...this is all aftermarket stuff tho. i have seen weld in pipes before. dont usually have to worry about leaks but off and on, you may have something develop over time.. hot cold off on...etc.

All I have seen bolt on, when it comes time for the e-check, just bolt the stocker back on and your ready to go. I did, and I blew the people at the e-check station away with how good mine read!
