Side Pipe exhaust?

I was lookin through Steeda.com, and I noticed a bolt-on side exhaust. they claim that it doesnt cost you any hp. What exactly is the purpose of side exhaust? I mean, can i put much stock in it, or are they just for show?

Steeda is claiming a 2 HP gain even with the side exhaust, but most do it just for looks... it's something different... with the number of mustangs that are on the roads... it's fun to do something a bit original...

There is a reason for the side exhaust other than looks. Steeda offers the 5 link suspension system which makes it impossible to operate your car with a regular exhaust, so if you get the 5 link, u have to get the side exhaust

DAMN!!! Now you tell me! I definitely would've gone side exhaust a few weeks back had I known this then

Guess I'll have to keep doing it the old fashioned way! I went with straight back exhaust due to cost, ease of installation, and the fact that I'd heard side exhaust makes your back rims look TERRIBLE. I like the idea of them, but they just weren't the practical answer at this point for me.
