Default Chambered mufflers or flow through's?

Which type of muffler is prefered a chambered muffler something like a flowmaster or a flow through design, seen on the slp catback system. I don't know which type to get? Also, I read in the "Whose cat back fits best" that some people remove their mufflers and weld in replacement pipes. does this sound decent with the stock h-pipe w/ cats still on?
Thanks
Conrad

Sound is a matter of opinion. As far as flow is concerned, a straight through muffler like magnaflow flows the best. Thing of it this way; the closest way to two points is a straight line. Chambered mufflers you are running through a maze to get to the end.
