Can I put American Racing torq-thrust rims on my car??

I went to the tire place here in town and they said they called American Racing and asked what size would fit my car. They said that because of the size of the brakes on the 96 Cobra that the torq-thrust rims wouldn't fit. Is this true? Has anyone everseen a 96 or later cobra with torqe-thrust rims?

No, but if it helps, I know a guy with a '95 GT and he had to have spacers installed to clear the calipers.
