Hey guys......I work with a girl who drives an '05 Nissan Maxima. Her boyfriend thinks that it's the fastest car EVER!!!!!!!! He wants me to race her and he always rants to everyone about how she would smoke me!!!!!!! Of course, her car is stock and so is mine with the exception that I have Flowmasters........Also, she has an automatic and mine is a 5-speed......... Should I race her? I know that her car is fast but would I stand the chance to shut her boyfriend up? Thanks!!!!!!!!
Just race her and see............A race is a race....not a guessing game.........Just do it .........mabey at least ask for 2-3 runs against her.........incase you royally fook up on the first run...lol :thumbsup

I'd say if your a good driver, do it. The Maxima might have a little more horse but your stang has more torque and a 5 speed. Just don't get to excited and dump it and go up in smoke, they would talk hella ****. Good Luck and keep us posted.

MUSTANG WOULD WIN , MAXIMAS ARE PRITTY FAST, I WOULD KNOW I HAVE A 02 MAX THAT RAN A 14.7 @94 MPH BONE STOCK .255HP.
AND I HAVE RAN AT LEAST 5, 99-04 MUSTANGS AND HAVE NEVER WON !
Just tread lightly, the Maxima with an auto is going to be hella simple to launch. I'll bet you'd smoke her on a track, but the street won't offer half of the traction...

be sure you stomp her nose in the dirt( figuratively ) so her idiot boyfriend will shut up about it.

U should walk her/him no-problem. I work with a cat that has a 2003 G35 (6-speed) completely stock. I have a bone-stock 02 GT also. We’re friends, and decided to have a friendly race a while back. The G35 is a fast animal, but he got smoked by the Stang torque-factor. I’m betting all-out and on roll’s he’s take me though.
Bottom line – if I can take a G35, you should have NO problems handling that Max...

I'm old (to some of you, maybe reallllly old) enough to remember when Nissan was Datsun and a Z car was one of the few vehicles running around with much in the way of fun factor straight out of the box. I had several 280's, and I liked 'em fine.
Ergo, I'm not prejudiced against nissans, on the contrary.
However, anyone who tailgates my 02 gt like the 05 maxima I smoked yesturday has my full prejudice.
We started the little contest at a 4 lane stop light where there were no other cars and he crowded my rear bumper in a clear attempt at intimidation. Given that he was alone in his shiny new rice-burner and i had my wife and daughter in my convertible, he must have figured he had an edge. He stayed with me through most of 2nd gear, but third saw him clearly falling back, and fourth was about the limit of our space, so he pulled in behind me again as we threaded some traffic. He was clearly annoyed and made some gesture which I couldn't see but didn't look friendly. We started rolling at a normal clip when I heard his engine rev and he swung over to sweep by me on the right. I was not in the correct gear for the fray, so I dropped from 4th to 3rd, planted it to the floor and ran away from him - until my wife noticed the action and pulled the plug (more traffic anyway...) Shoot, never even hit the c mark.
My mildly modified gt just outgunned him (diablo predator tune, accufab 75 tb, C&L plenum, bbk cold air, etc. - no nitrous, no blower, no turbo). I suspect a stock aod gt would have had its hands full, and a 5 speed would have pulled out a win. My car runs about 300hp, and is hardly the fastest gt in town, but he was not match for it (even with us fully laden with 3 adults and a full tank of gas).
Anything above 4200 rpm, it was all mustang over the maxima.
My mom has the infiniti (4 door, not coupe) motor, and we drove the maxima during shopping. The infiniti was definitely lighter, smaller, and more nimble. I also suspect that its shift points were firmer and its tune more performance-curved. Back to back, the 2 cars were not very similar except for the size of their engines.
