my 96 went 14.2 with 4:10's PI swap with a slipping auto tranny so yeah you could take a 99+ gt with those mods, also on 225 tires which gave almost no traction

Best time to date is 14.20 spinning trough first and 2nd, thanks to Kumho's, times are prior to suspension work and tranny swap
Yes with both pi heads and a cam you should take one easy...

Would a set of used heads, cams, intake manifold that come out of a gt be a good idea to use if i can find them. I have 295 kwd's in the back so i get massive traction. When i launch i basicly drop it from 2600 and it just chirps the tires. I ran a g timer in my car 0-60 and my best was a 7.03. Could have done better, i bogged out in first everytime. My friend with a 96 cobra was only getting 6.8.

It depends on how used those parts are. If they only have a 40K or so miles, I would put them in with only a good thorough look at the surfaces and a magnaflux. Anything more than that, I would be a little iffy about.

do both! i did the headswap first which really woke the car up. with the 4.10s and the swap it pulls hard all the way to redline (on the dyno peak hp was in the low 5's if i remember correctly.) with the 4.10s and no headswap you'd be revving fast into alot of useless rpm. its best to shift non-pi cars around 5k and 5k comes really fast with 4.10s.
the 4.10s will wake the car up, but the headswap will really bring out the best in the 4.10s.
would 4.10's or pi heads, intake and cams make my car faster and will it be able to beat a 99+ stock gt or a 00 s2000?
Gears are sooooooooo much cheaper!!! The gears/PI intake/PI cam/intake spacer swap would really wake the car up w/o the expense of swapping the heads. Stock valve springs keep the rpms down though but if shifting at 5K car would move. If you're doing the work yourself the headswap rules. I have set new pi cams/new pi valves/springs. In theory, the headswap on a 96-98 motor gives you more hp than a PI motor because of the higher compression (diff. dishes in the pistons & combustion chamber sizes). My gain from an elaborate headswap on an already supercharged car was 180hp. There are several sets of PI heads on Ebay today. As reference, should be able to buy pair of new FRPP heads complete incl. cams, for as low as $710 + ship.

Reason: addit. info.
I just replaced my 3.90s with 4.10s and did the pi headswap. It pulls crazy hard compared to the old stuff. Do them BOTH you willl be very happy

well i believe my intake manifold is on its way to breaking completly because i mysteriously loose coolant and i cant see/find where its at. after a week of my computer class devoted to finding the heads and manifold and cams ebay is really the best place to find the set. I've seen prices from 550-700 consistantly, all low mileage take off. But there are junkyards or whatevers that will sell them to you for 500 after a little talkin down on their price. Basicly you have to devote some time searching for them and you could find the set for 500

is your current intake the improved one w/the aluminum crossover at the front? If not, the all plastic ones cracked at the front. There's a pic in my Gallery of stock manifold (it's a PI one but clearly shows the alum. crossover) Remember you can buy the PI heads new/complete w/cams for a bit more than $700. Don't pay too much on Ebay for heads you may want to have checked over or valve job. Can check the AFM classifieds for some things you might want/need.

I'll go one better for you. I've got a set of FRPP/SVO Hi-Flow 2V heads (the Ford Racing heads...not the PI heads) that retail for $1700 a set. They have around 2000 miles on them but are in excellent shape. I'll sell them for $750 complete. They're way better than PI heads. Let me know if you're interested.
