Screamin Demon coil packs and MSD 8.5mm Superconductor wires...good combo? I just recently aquired a set of Screamin' Demon coil packs and MSD 8.5mm Superconductor wires. Guy wrecked his 96 and I bought the stuff for 80 bucks. Bout 3000 miles on them and they look great. I have searched the forums and read the magazine adds and it seems people are running the Live Wires or Taylor 10+ wires. Question is...will the MSD 8.5mm wires handle the juice from the SD packs? Guy Im getting them from ran them and said he had no problems. But I was just thinking maybe long term the combo might have problems. I personally think the wires will be fine, but I just want input from the membership if they have any experience here.
BTW the reason I am getting these things is that my 97 which still has stock wires (77,000 miles) developed a slight miss and buck under acceleration, and it smells to be running just slightly rich. I read about similar problems and recommendations seemed to focus on cleaning MAF, IAT, changing plugs and wires, change fuel filter, run injector cleaner and a few tanks of premium fuel, treat gas for water, and sometimes getting new (read: hotter) coil packs and gapping the plugs to around .65 to burn the fuel more efficiently. So doing it all but got the packs and wires on the cheap.
Thoughts?
