I have a 96 GT with an automatic in it. I want to switch to a 5 speed. How difficult is this to do and what would be the cost to do this compared to going trading the GT Vert on a GT coupe with a 5 Speed. Any help on this will be greatly apprciated. :

well as far as parts go, you'll need a 5-spd tranny, clutch pedal, clutch cable, clutch assembly, new flywheel, and all the little etc parts...
how skilled are you as far as drilling, nut &bolt turning, and dropping a tranny? if youve never done it before.. plan a week to do it.. most likely get it done in a weekend..but complications may arise.. its a lot of work.. and you have to go thru with it... a shop may do it quicker but they will charge you for their work.... so depends on if it sounds like a project you want to do or if you got the money for a headache-free install. as for trading.. it depends on how much you can find the same car for with the 5-spd in your area.

VORTEX! THANKS FOR THE INFO. i AM VERY MECHANICALLY INCLINED, PLUS I HAVE FRIENDS THAT ARE ALOT MORE FAMILIAR WITH TRANSMISSIONS THAN ME. I HAVE FOUND A GUY WITH A 5SPD OUT OF A 96 COBRA, BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS WORTH AND HE WANTS ME TO MAKE AN OFFER. wHAT DO YOU THINK IT WOULD BE WORTH? tHANKS AGAGIN...............CHARLIE

be fair but get a good deal.. see if you can get it for $200... then find out how much he wants to let it go for.. usually you can take $100 less than what they want in cash and they will give it to you.
Well you got the equipment and the know-how.. id say do it.. all the brackets are there they just may need to be drilled... while you're doing this id recommend to go ahead and install an adjustable clutch cable and 3-hook quadrant.. GT50 had a problem installing it.. but since you're going to have a lot apart might as well use good stuff when you do.

Does anyone make a manual or is there a web site I can go to for a little help on doing this? Thanks again for your help...and if you are not doing anything one of these weekends, come on down to South Carolina and give me a hand. LOL............

well its north for me.. I have an uncle in North Myrtle Beach. Ill check the web for tech articles.. im still looking for a clutch install for Nick.. kill 2 birds with one shoe

check out mustang parts specialties....they sell used parts, and have swap kits.... good prices too caused it's used stuff...but it's really staightforward....1-770-867-2644....or....www.stangparts.com...you could also try D&D perf in wixom mich.....they have swap kits too....1-248-926-6220...good luck
