I need info on changing a sohc to a dohc. The 4.6 steel block I'm starting with is a 1997 F65E6015 casting number. I would like to know how to put 2000+ DOHC cobra head on. My main question is what year's heads I can use on this block (and casting numbers of head that will work if 2000 and up cobra heads will not interchange). I was wondering if the water mains line up for 2000 heads on a pre-2000 motor. Any instructional links, parts pricing, or info would be much appreciated. Can I use the cobra timing chain sprockets with this crank (F65E88410). It's a 5.4L crank. Or do I have to use a 4.6 crank? Basically trying to convert this motor into a cobra. TIA!!

Your looking at alot of work. What rods and pistons a re being used? I know many people were using the 96-98 blocks because they were made stronger then the 03-04 aluminum units. As fas as the internals goes you lloking at a slew of parts needed. Whast your budget? Might be easier to just find a used 99-01 cobra engine for 2K. Because one it comes down to it your looking at half that or more just for heads.
