Default how much hp with stock rods and pistons?

How much rwhp-rwt is safe ( or reasonably acceptable ) with stock rods and pistons? 03 gt manual, full synthetic oil with 22k mi. 3.55. My goal is at or near 400 rwhp but, not if it means tearing down the bottom end of a "almost" new engine.

I don't know the exact answer to your question but think about this. The Cobra is rated at 390 HP at the flywheel. It uses a forged crank and Manley forged rods. If your goal is 400 hp at the rear wheels your're looking at around 470 or more at the flywheel. I don't thing the junk rods that Ford uses in the 4.6 would be to relaible at that power level. If you are going to spend the kind of money that it takes to produce that level of power I would go ahead and spend the extra $2000 - $2500 to install a reliable rotating assembly. That way you know that your engine will live. I find it interesting that Ford uses forged rods in the V-6 but uses the junk poured and cracked rods in the 4.6. It makes no sense.

Thanks for the advise, sounds like a few more of the basic bolt ons and no supercharger for me then. This is my first mod motor and first access to a chassis dyno, it is a very addicting combonation.

400-450 is the max with a good tune and no detonation.

I have stock internals... You'll be fine with a good tune. 400-430 ish RWHP... Anymore and you're on borrowed time.
